Project Manager – Experienced

Job Description

Position: Project Manager – Experienced
Location: Hutchinson, MN

Industry: Civil-Construction
Job Type: Full-Time Position
Salary Range: $75,000 – $125,000
Years of Experience: 4 year degree in Construction Management with Civil Background
plus 5 years experience in related field.

The commercial/civil construction project manager provides management oversight for all phases of project, including coordinating workers, material, and equipment, ensuring the specifications are being followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.  The individual will directly interact with the Owners, Main Office Personnel, Subcontractors and Suppliers on and off the project site.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and manages a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources, ensuring the project meets or exceeds time and budget expectations.
  • Selection and issuance of contracts for various subcontractors involved in each project, working within budget and constraints.
  • Oversees performance of all subcontractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed, and ensuring the project remains on schedule and within budget at each phase.
  • Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Ensures site safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded. Reviews and corrects safety violations or other reported deficiencies.
  • Marketing and managing relations for earthwork and general civil construction projects.
  • Communicates regularly with Owners and Main Office Personnel about the project. Documents status in daily logs and coordinates modifications as they arise; issuing change orders as necessary.
  • Review shop drawings and plans. Review quotes and proposals from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Perform cost control and financial management
    • Work with pre construction on project estimate and schedule
    • Coordinate scopes of work
    • Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written forms; excellent follow through
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and complete multiple tasks within project deadlines is essential
  • Ability to pre-plan and coordinate several projects in regards to material contracts, manpower, equipment, safety and subcontractors
  • Thorough understanding of schedules, project budgets, submittals, change orders, and job costing
  • Five years or more experience assisting or managing construction projects of increasing complexity, including supervisory and budgetary responsibility.
  • Four year degree program in construction management or construction science or equivalent 2 yr degree with job experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve projects goals and owner expectations.
  • Strong technical skills, preferring those experienced with Excel, MS Word, Project and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of HCSS preferred
  • Task and detailed orientated.
    Working knowledge and proficiency in application of project and staff management principles.
  • Proven problem solving ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
